Fees
At Sound Start Therapy, we are dedicated to providing high-quality speech pathology services tailored to meet the unique needs of every child.
We offer support for both private clients and those accessing funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Medicare referrals.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
NDIS: Early Childhood Approach Funding
Children under 9 years old, who have a diagnosed disability, or those children under 6 with developmental delays or concerns, may be eligible for support through the NDIS Early Childhood Approach.
NDIS Funding
Children eligible for NDIS must be aged nine years or older and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their participation in everyday activities.
This funding is available to Australian citizens, permanent visa holders and protected special category visa holders living in Australia.
NDIS and Private Clients
Sound Start Therapy’s fees align with the NDIS price guide, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all clients.
Assessment duration is tailored to each child’s individual needs and complexity, with reports provided upon request at the same hourly rate.
Speech Therapy Session Durations:
30-min Session: $ 97.00
45-min session: $145.49
60-min session: $193.99
Your speech pathologist will discuss the frequency and duration of therapy sessions that best support your child's goals, typically scheduled on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
Travel time and mileage will be billed as per NDIS Guidelines and Pricing Policies. Travel costs apply to offsite sessions (E.g. family home, childcare facilities or schools) and are charged at $3.23 per minute calculated on the time required for travel.
Additionally, a 10-15 minute documentation time will be included for session preparation, communication with caregivers, and recording therapy outcomes.
Private Insurance
Speech pathology services may be covered under your extras policy. We encourage you to consult with your private health insurer to determine your level of coverage for both initial and ongoing therapy and assessment.
Medicare Rebates
Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP)
Your child may be eligible for up to 5 subsidised speech therapy sessions per calendar year. A referral from your GP or pediatrician is required to access this rebate. Payment is due on the day of service, and claiming the rebate through Medicare is the responsibility of the caregiver or client.
Helping Children with Autism Plan (HCWA)
This plan provides funding for children undergoing diagnosis, assessment or treatment for Autism or any other Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD). Eligible children can receive up to 4 assessments and 20 speech therapy sessions before their 13th birthday. Please consult your Pediatrician or Psychiatrist for a referral to this plan.
Cancellation Policy
To respect everyone's time, we request 48-hour notice for cancellations. A full fee applies per NDIS price policy and guide for all clients who do not provide adequate notice.
Our fees are reviewed annually and may change without notice. Our NDIS fees are aligned with the most recent National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Price Guide available on the NDIS website.
Please check with each funding scheme and or private health insurer for more details about your circumstances.
